About MWO

The Maghull Wind Orchestra was founded in 1978, and since then we have been an important and popular part of music in Maghull, Liverpool and the North West.

We are a community based symphonic wind orchestra boasting over one hundred members. Our membership is drawn from the surrounding area from a broad range of backgrounds; from full-time students, to music teachers, people working in other professions and those in retirement. The aim of Maghull Wind Orchestra is to provide a high quality musical experience for all woodwind, brass and percussion musicians, regardless of age or ability with professional level directorship and without audition or fee.

Maghull Wind Orchestra stages regular public performances throughout the year and has performed at some very high profile events and venues. We perform a variety of wind orchestra works; from classical and modern music to traditional military band repertoire and symphonic film scores, and pride ourselves on our versatility and audience engaging programmes. Under the professional and enthusiastic direction of Phil Shotton, Maghull Wind Orchestra has established itself as an important and popular part of music in the North West.
